Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late William Calvin and Edna Knox Fant. He was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church and served there as a custodian for more than 11 years. Alan was retired from Ford Motor Company after 40 years of service.
Surviving are: his daughter Allyson (John) Walker of Honea Path; a son Patrick Murphy (Sheila) Fant of Pendleton; a sister, Betty (Derrell) Wright of Powder Springs GA; four grandchildren, Samantha Martin (Matt), Jenn Fant (Harrison Roehl), Brock Fant, and Isaac Walker, and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Martin and Mark Alan Martin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son Mark Alan Fant, his brother, Dan Fant, and three sisters, Joan Roach, Mary Thompson, and Carolyn Finley.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 P.M. Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moody officiating. A private interment will be held earlier in the day.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service, and respectfully ask that attendees follow social distancing guidelines.
