Born in Greenwood, SC, he was the son of the late James Thomas and Compton Margaret Parham Hammond. He was of the Pentecostal faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are one son, Travis Hammond of Perry, FL, one daughter, Teresa Freeman of Charleston, one brother, Tommy Hammond of Hodges, three sisters, Marie Burroughs, Margaret Williamson and Tammy McCombs all of Ware Shoals, three grandchildren Amber Blick, Frankie Blick and Brittany Bernardino and one great grandchild Julio Hector Bernardino.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one son, James Curtis Hammond, Jr. and one brother, Robert Lee Hammond.
Memorial services will be held at 3 PM on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Allen Hammond and Rev. Tony Irby officiating.
The family is at the home of his nephew, Allen Hammond, 11 Camak Ave. and will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to the Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness Church, 9 Circle St., Ware Shoals, SC 29692.
