Other survivors include children: Rick Hestir of Heber Springs, AR and Janet Hestir Turnage (Tommy) of Griffithville, AR, Vicki Armstrong Smith (Wayne) of Greenville, Susan Armstrong Shirley (Max) and Mike Armstrong, both of Belton. She was also known as “NaNa” to eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grands, whom she loved with all her heart.
Preceding her in death include her parents, six siblings of which she was the last surviving member of her immediate family, Ronald Lee Hestir, her husband of nineteen years, infant daughter, Dana Marie and son, Ronald Roy Hestir.
Doris was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed canning vegetables. She was a faithful member of Friendship Baptist Church for 40 years. She and Hubert enjoyed taking the Senior Citizens on monthly bus tours, as well as serving the community delivering “Meals on Wheels” for 12 years, which also fed her soul. Her “Sunday Dinners” were one of the family’s favorite memories. Spending time with her grandchildren was her favorite pastime.
Visitation will be at Pruitt Funeral Home in Honea Path from 1-2:30 P.M. on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, followed by graveside services at 3 P.M. at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson. The family will be receiving friends at the home of Max and Susan Shirley, 109 Briarwood Drive in Belton.
