Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Olin and Grace Watt Timmerman. She was a lifelong member of the Ware Shoals First Baptist Church where she was active in the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. She was an auxiliary member of the Gideon’s International. Mrs. Kay worked as a secretary for many years at Riegel Textile Co. and later retired from The Vogue of Greenwood.
Surviving are her husband of the home, three daughters, Jennifer Leigh Kay Balentine of Donalds, Kristi Lynn Kay Freeman (Jack) of Belton, and Dana Suzanne Kay Nash (Chuck) of Abbeville, three grandchildren, Shana Paxton (Jason), Brooke Grace Brownlee (Braden), and Katie Lee Nash, and three great-grandchildren, Azleigh, Brecken, and Ryland Paxton. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Marean Gibson.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Tuesday at the Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church prior to the service.
