Born in Anderson County, she was a daughter of the late Delph Powell and Sally Bruce Arnold. She was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church and a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She was a homemaker and a self-employed hairdresser.
Surviving are: a son, Max Hoyt (Susan) Shirley of Belton, three daughters, Gloria (Chris) Pruitt of Cross Hill, Bonnie (Marty) Knight of Belton, and Janice (Robbie) Hunter of Lexington, her brother, Delph “DP” Powell of West Columbia, a sister, Joyce (Weston) Malone of Belton, ten grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and her special caretaker, Gail Worley.
Mrs. Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Bud Arnold Shirley, and a sister, Velda Lusk.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Monday, September 23, 2019, at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
Pallbearers will be David King Arnold, Samuel Powell Arnold, Taber Dean Arnold, Forest Malcolm Arnold, Joseph Bryan Lusk, Robert Steven Lusk, and John Weston Malone.
Honorary pallbearers will be member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1:30 - 3 P.M. Monday at the church prior to the service.
