Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of William Edgar  and Beulah Knighton Hughes She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church. She was retired from Riegel Textile Co. and Park Seed Company. After  her retirement she enjoyed spending time in her yard and with her friends at the Ware Shoals Senior Citizens Center.

Surviving are three daughters, Toni Culbreath, Ware Shoals, Sheila Taylor (Len), Ware Shoals and Cindy Harris(George), Greenwood; and a step-daughter, Bennie Thompson of Chester, a brother, Rusty Hughes of Fort Allen, La.  two sisters, Joy Fleming of Greenwood, Jennie Lou Moore of Bluffton, five grandchildren, Andrea Harris Cabe (Frank), Lance Taylor (Brittany), Allison Taylor, Genevieve Harris, Jacob Harris (Beth) and three great-grandchildren.

She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Bill Hughes, Benny Knighton, and Durra Ray Knighton , a sister Frances Muse, and a granddaughter, Selena Culbreath.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Tuesday at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Wood and Rev. Charles Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 P.M. Tuesday at Walnut Grove Baptist Church prior to the service. The family would like to recognize the staff of Emerald Gardens, Bebe Wesson, and many others that treated her with respect and love throughout her time there.
