Born in Carrollton, MO, he was a son of the late Russell and Juanita Profitt Lawter. He was a member of Austin Road Baptist Church where he previously served as Sunday School Superintendent, Deacon, and Brotherhood Director. He was a veteran of the US Army. Mr. Lawter was a former local business owner and a truck driver.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 43 years of the home are: four sons, Steven E. (Nicki) Lawter of Spring Hill, FL, David L. (Janna) Lawter of Belton, Brian P. (Crystal) Lawter of Richland, WA, and Matthew E. (Jennifer) Lawter of Honea Path; two brothers, Merle Lawter of Las Vegas, NV and Rusty Lawter of Kansas City, MO; four sisters, Janis Hernandez of Des Moines, IA, Roslyn Smith of Omaha, NE, Susan Butler-Jones of Las Vegas, NV and Rebecca Lawter of Kansas City, MO; and 14 grandchildren.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at 4 P.M. Monday, February 4, 2019 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Thomas and Rev. Billy Slatten officiating.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 3-4 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service.
