Born in Laurens County, she was a daughter of the late Israel and Eva McNeely Cline. She was a lifetime member of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church, having also been a student at the Mt. Gallagher School. She was retired from Ware Shoals School District #51, where she served as the lunchroom supervisor for a number of years. She also had previously worked at several daycare centers in Laurens, SC.
Surviving are: two daughters, Joy Kernells of Surfside Beach, SC, and Christy Kernells of Ware Shoals; her sister, Alice Darnell of Edgefield; a sister-in-law, Frankie Cline of Ware Shoals; two grandchildren, Beth Abeyta of Charleston, and Matthew Varnum of Greenwood; and a great-grandson, Joseph Abeyta.
Mrs. Kernells is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Sheron Kernells, and two brothers, James Cline and David Cline.
Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, January 24, 2019 at Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop officiating.
