Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Ernest and E.C. Cole Yarbrough. He was a member of the Honea Path Church of God and was a retired Chief Warrant Officer 5 from the South Carolina Army National Guard. He also served as chaplain for the Honea Path Fire Department, and was inducted into the SC Army National Guard Warrant Officer Hall of Fame. He loved hunting and fishing, and was an avid Clemson fan.
Surviving are his wife of the home, a son, Scot Yarbrough (Heather) of McCormick, a daughter, Cindy Owens (Tony) of Gray Court, a sister, Nellie “Nell” Y. Anders (John Trube) of Atlanta, and four grandchildren, Ellie Rae Yarbrough, Austin Wade Owens, Collin Rance Owens, and Brayden Cole Owens, and a special friend who was like a daughter, Cindy Godwin of Fountain Inn. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Earl and Ernest Eugene “Pete” Yarbrough.
Graveside services will be held at 10 A.M. on Friday, October 5, 2018 at M. J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery officiated by Rev. Eric Shuler, Mr. Tony S. McAlister, CW5(R), Dr. James Smith, and Rev. Rickey Knight with Military Honors.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Pruitt Funeral Home. Flowers will be gratefully accepted, or memorial donations may be made to the Honea Path Fire Department, 204 S. Main St., Honea Path SC 29654.
