Gloria was born October 5th, 1931 to J.C. and Helen Robinson in Anderson County. She was first married to the late Joe Edwards of 38 years and later to the late James Howard Scott of 14 years.
Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, and faithful member of her community. She was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church where she started the grief support group after the passing of her husband Joe. There she then reconnected with her second husband Howard. She held a B.S. degree from Lander College and was a retired teacher from Belton-Honea Path High School. Her family is thankful that in her final years she was cared for and loved by the staff of the Maples at Austin Place.
Surviving is her sister, Rebecca Faye Hanks (Donnie Ray) of Anderson, her two daughters, Amy Gifford (Neilo) of Luray, and Patricia Neely (John) of Honea Path, Grandchildren Lindsay Gifford of Beaufort, Branham Gifford (Jessi) of Ridgeland, and Jonathan Neely (Caley) of Pineville, KY; her stepdaughter Anne Lane (Riley) of Clinton, stepsons David Scott (Julie) of Sunset, and Mark Scott (Robin) of Columbia; and step granddaughter, Jess Scott of Columbia.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Moody and Rev. Jonathan Neely officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
