Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late James Frank and Mattie Elizabeth Gambrell Young. He was a member of Keowee Baptist Church and retired from Chiquola Mills.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 63 years of the home are: a daughter, Sybil Teresa Babb of Honea Path; a sister, Sarafaye Alewine of Level Land; four grandchildren, Justin Creel, Georgia Richey, Brandon Creel, and Brittany Babb; and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Caden Richey.
He is preceded in death by: a daughter, Debra Irene Creel; three brothers, Albert Young, Clyde Young, and Ernest Young; and six sisters, Elsie Mae Brock, Ruby Vermillion, Mary Brock, Nancy Fields, Helen McGill, and Louise Hunicutt.
Graveside services will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, May 28, 2018 at Keowee Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tony Lee officiating.
