William “Bill” Dellinger

Honea Path – William ‘Bill’ Mason Dellinger, Sr., 96 widower of Lois Louella Hodge Dellinger, of 392 Cowan Rd., Honea Path, died Thursday, April 26, 2018 at NHC Anderson.

Born in Mecklenburg County, NC, he was a son of the late Luther C. and Sudie Hansil Dellinger. He was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church, was a graduate of Lowell High School in Lowell, NC, and was retired from Powers Industries, Inc. of Houston, TX, where he worked as a warehouse supervisor. Mr. Dellinger served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the European theatre, and retired as a Master Sergeant in the N.C. National Guard. He also served as a deacon at Sharpstown Baptist Church in Houston, and as an assistant Sunday school teacher at Honea Path First Baptist Church.

Mr. Dellinger is survived by one son: William Mason Dellinger, Jr. and wife Jeri of Vienna, VA; one daughter: Judith Elaine Dellinger McClain of Honea Path; one brother: Jimmie Lee McDaniel and wife Nancy of Mt. Holly, NC; two grandchildren: Joyce Elaine Lawson and Lauren Ann Dellinger Schmidt; and three great-grandchildren: Austin Shane Gunnels, Ashlynn Elaine Gunnels and Allie Jo Lawson.

He is preceded in death by four brothers: L.C., Hank,Taylor and Rev. Johnnie Bruce Dellinger; one sister: Laurie Sue Goodman; and one grandchild: William Aaron McClain.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 30, at Honea Path First Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Moody officiating. Burial will be private.

The family is at the home, and will receive friends immediately following the funeral service in the church sanctuary.
