Born in Greenwood he was a son of Bobby Joe, Sr. and Willie Mae Kerr Powell. He was of the Holiness faith. A graduate of Ware Shoals High, Class of 1980 and Piedmont Tech, he was an avid drummer.
Surviving are his parents of the home, a daughter, Ashlee Gooch (David) of Aiken, a brother, Joey Powell (Jeannie) of Waterloo, a grandchild, Giovanni Lane Gooch, and former wife, Lisa C. Powell. He was pre-deceased by a niece Jennifer P. Mitchell.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel, Ware Shoals, with Rev. Mark Lowe and Rev. Susan Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be Charles Starling, Ricky White, Jerry Rentz, Berny Sanford, Sydney Brown, and Robbie Coker. Honorary Pallbearers will be former Co-workers at Capsugel and Fuji of Greenwood.
The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 P.M. Sunday at Parker-White Funeral Home, Ware Shoals, prior to the service.
