Born in Spartanburg County, he was a son of the late Julian and Juanita Stephens King. He was retired as Pastor of North Spartanburg Church Of God, of which he was a founding member. He had served in the Ministry for over 50 years at several churches. Since his retirement he served as Associate Pastor of Trinity Springs Church of God and the Honea Path Church Of God.

Surviving are two sons, David King and Mark King, both of Honea Path, a daughter Lori King of Honea Path, a sister, Barbara Blanton of Roebuck, five grandchildren, Cortney, Jarrett, Amber, Cody, Matthew, and Lily Grace, and two great-grandchildren, Maddox and Skyler.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the Honea Path Church of God with Rev. Chris Jarrard, Rev. Charles Caldwell, and Rev. Eric Schuler officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
