Born in Edgecombe County, N.C., he was a son of the late John Henry and Lalar Isley Owens. He was attended Neals Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Collins & Aikman. Mr. Owens was a US Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the 13th Infantry, 8th Division from 1940 to 1943.
Surviving are: his daughter, Linda Owens of Belton, two brothers, six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Roger Owens, three brothers and his sister.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Eastview Cemetery, Honea Path.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.
