Born in Greenwood County, he was the son of Donald “Donnie” Eugene Nelson, Jr. and Amy Carissa Ginn. He attended Holiday Church and Gethsemane Church and was employed by Leadec. Reid attended Ware Shoals High School, where his was on the football team, and attained his G.E.D. He loved art and was an accomplished illustrator. Reid was an avid fisherman.
Surviving in addition to his father of Ware Shoals and his mother of Honea Path are: three brothers, Myles, Noah, and Donnie III, Nelson, all of Ware Shoals, his sister, Reagan Nelson of Ware Shoals, paternal grandparents, Don (LeDessa) Lilly and Don (Sandra) Nelson, all of Ware Shoals, and maternal grandparents, Sally (Russell) Davis of Ware Shoals, and Darren Ginn of Ware Shoals, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his Aunt Kalen.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Wednesday, August 30, 2017 at Ware Shoals First Presbyterian/Gethsemane Church with Rev. Byron Wood and Rev. Mark Lowe officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
