Born in Dearborn Mi., she was a daughter of the late Howard McElvin and Helia Carlson Fielding. She was a member of Winona Baptist Church and was retired after 29 years from Ware Shoals School District 51 as dietician. She grew up In Orting, Wa. where she graduated from high school and secretarial college and worked in the Seattle, Wa. FBI office. During her time in Seattle she attended a USO Dance at the Trianon Ballroom where she met her husband who was serving in the U.S. Navy.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas “Tom” Couch (Sheila) of Camden and Charles B. “Chuck” Couch of Ware Shoals, a daughter, Robin C. Slatten (Rev. Billy) of Honea Path, a brother Dale Fielding (Eva) of Reedley, Ca., eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Edward Fielding and a sister-in-law, Grace Fielding.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at Austin Road Baptist Church, Honea Path, with Rev. Billy Slatten officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 1 to 2 P.M. Saturday at Austin Road Baptist Church, Honea Path, prior to the service.
