Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Garl and Mackie Blackwell Malone. He was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and a member of the Goodwill Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during WWII. Jamer attended Ware Shoals Schools and played textile baseball for Riegel Textile Corporation. He was a member of Ware Shoals Lodge #306 A.F.M. and served on Ware Shoals Town Council for a number of years. He was retired from Riegel.
Surviving are: four daughters, Vickie (Bob) Rushton of Greenwood, Susan (Bob) Gault of Bakersville NC, Wanda (Carl) Melton of Waterloo, and Phoebe (Jeff) Miller of Greer, two brothers, Haskell (Evelyn) Malone of Ware Shoals and Jack (Sandy) Malone of Lyman, a sister, Nancy (David) Emerson of Lincolnton NC, three grandchildren, Jennifer (Greg) Lindley, Jamie (Crystal) Davis, and Travis O’Dell, and three great-grandchildren, Will Lindley, Karlie Lindley, and Carlie Gibert.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Ditts, and Bobby Joe Malone, and two sisters, Billie Sue Fleming and Edna McNeil.
Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of his daughter, Vickie Rushton, 1408 Briarwood Road, Greenwood SC, and will receive friends from 2-3 P.M. Wednesday at the church prior to the service.
