Born in Laurens County, he was the son of the late Albert Sr. and Cornelia McCauley Nelson. He was a member of Reedy Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church and a veteran of the US Army. He was retired from Torrington after 40 years of service. He was twice married, first to the late Pat Nelson.
Surviving in addition to his loving wife of the home are: his son, Barry Nelson of Laurens, two step-sons, Tommy (Yvonne) Madden and Jimmy (Patsy) Madden, both of Hodges, and a great-grandson, raised in the home, Dalton Madden.
Memorial services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Reedy Grove Pentocostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tommy Wooten officiating.
