Lauranette Cain

 

Ware Shoals – Lauranette Jones Cain, 89, widow of Lamar Cain, died Monday, June 5, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.

 

Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Walter Mattison and Inez Stone Jones. She was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church and the TEL-Dorcas Sunday School Class and A.D.Y. Mrs. Cain was a member of Ware Shoals High School Class of 1945. She was an alumnus of Brenau College, Class of 1949, with a B.S. degree in Education. Mrs. Cain was retired from Ware Shoals School District #51 after serving 30 years as a high school teacher. She was a member of the Gideon International Women’s Auxillary and the Ware Shoals Women’s Club. 

Surviving are: three sons, Walter Lamar (Debra) Cain of Donalds, Lyndol Kennedy Cain of Laurens, and Thomas Mattison (Karen) Cain of Vienna, Va., three daughters, Diaz (Tommy) Scoggins of Ware Shoals, Candee (Travis) Langford of Laurens, and Susan (Dillard) Pruitt of Simpsonville, one sister, Belle Jones Kennette of Ware Shoals, 11 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Ryan Martin Cain.

Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Leon Jones and Rev. Dan Compton officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends from 10-11 A.M. Friday in the Ware Shoals First Baptist Church social hall. The family requests that flowers be omitted and memorials made to Ware Shoals First Baptist General Fund, P.O. Box 449, Ware Shoals, SC 29692, or to The Gideon’s International, P.O.
