Phil was born on November 24, 1956 in Moore, SC where he grew up. He was the son of the late Ila Webster Williams and the late Brice Edmond Williams. He graduated from Byrnes High School in Duncan, SC and served in the United States Air Force after graduation. In the Air Force, his specialty was communications and electronics. After his discharge from service, he attended North Greenville College and Erskine College.
He had three loves in his life; first and foremost, he loved the Lord and His Word and loved to fellowship with other believers. He was ordained as a lay minster in his early twenties. Studying and sharing the scriptures with others brought him great joy and fulfillment. He was a man of great faith and prayer.
He was lovingly devoted to his family, always ready to serve them in any way he could. He became “famous” with his sons and wife for being able to repair just about anything. He was the emotional and spiritual leader and support of his family. His immediate family and his extended family were of utmost importance to him.
His third love was for his country, which is one reason he chose to serve in the military. He had great respect for the spiritual and ethical foundations that formed our nation, and he shared his devotion to this country with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Pamela Hayden Williams of 32 years, his son, Matthew Phillip Williams and wife, Claire Bishop Williams along with soon-coming grandson, Elijah Phillip Williams and son, Joshua Stephen Williams. He is also survived by a sister, Donna Ann Marr and a brother Michael Edmond Williams along with many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
