Born in Charlotte, NC, he was a son of the late Thomas Withers and Sarah Steinback Smith. He was a member of Ware Shoals First Presbyterian Church and was retired from Duncan Parnell Company of Charlotte. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, World War II.
Surviving are his daughter-in-law, Lisa R. Smith of Clover, and several nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a son, Jackie W. Smith, and two sisters, Jean Williams and Margie Clemmons.
Graveside services will be held at Noon on Saturday, April 15th at Friendship Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating.
