Lonnie Beggs

Ware Shoals – Lonnie Franklin Beggs, 88, husband of Jeanette Cook Beggs, of 15 Oak Street, died April 6, 2017 at Self Regional Hospital.

Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Frank Lewellyn and Annie Greene Beggs. He was a member of Ware Shoals First Baptist Church. Mr Beggs served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was retired from Monsanto where he worked as an Electrician in the Engineering Department.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: three sons, Donald Lee Beggs of Greenwood, Richard Earl Beggs of Ware Shoals and Robin Franklin Beggs (Janis) of Simpsonville. One sister, Dorothy Capps of Greenwood, three grandchildren, Catherine Hill, Chloe Whitmore, Abigail Beggs and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mr Beggs was predeceased by three brothers: Archie, Claude, and Frank Beggs.

Honorary pallbearers will be employees or former co-workers of Monsanto.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday April 8, 2017 at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev Leon Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home, 15 Oak Street, and will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM Saturday prior to the service in the Church. The family request that flower be omitted and memorials be made to Ware Shoals First Baptist Church, 30 S. Greenwood Ave. Ware Shoals, SC 29692.
