Albert “Ab” Black

Honea Path – Albert “Ab” Black, 97, died March 16, 2017 at Rainey Hospice House.

Born in Anderson County, he was the son of the late Paul L. and Brinnie Cothran Black.

For 72 Years, he was the loving husband of the late Katharine Campbell Black. They were members of the Friendship Baptist Church.

He is survived by a sister, Helen Belue of Ninety Six, a brother, Guy Black, two children, Tommy Black (Charlotte), Anne Pruitt (Bill) all of Honea Path; Four grandsons, Rob Black (Sheri), Brian Black (Misty), Will Pruitt (Pam), and Dan Pruitt; and ten great-grandchildren.

Mr. Black farmed for many years, and also retired from Smith & Waters in Ware Shoals in 1984. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the loving and caring people of The Maples in Honea Path where Ab has lived since November 2015.

Graveside Services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Garden of Memories with Rev. Archie Sharpe officiating.

The family is at the home of a grandson, Brian Black, 110 Black Farm Rd., and will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 to 2:30 PM at Friendship Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Building Fund, 220 Friendship Church Rd., Honea Path, SC 29654, or to the charity of one’s choice.
