Born in Greenwood County, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Wigfall, Jr., and Elva Mae Meyers Youngblood. She was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church and a retired seamstress. Mrs. Higgins loved arts and crafts, helping others and raising her family.
Surviving in addition to her devoted husband of 50 years of the home are: two sons, Rev. William Earl (Diane) Higgins, Jr., of Honea Path, and Robert Cale (Crystal) Higgins of Donalds, three daughters, Mary Lee (Terry) Phillips of Honea Path, Barbara Ann (Billy) Butler, and Kimberly Denise (Ronnie) Graham, all of Hodges, two sisters, Mary (Perry) Pinson and Kate Timms, all of Hodges, nine grandchildren, Chris, Joey, Terrena, Josh, Grace, Leigh, Chandler, Parker, and Makenzie, and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Betty Faye Shirley, and her brother, Donald Erasmus Youngblood.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, March 3, 2017 at Walnut Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Higgins and Rev. Charles Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers and the Men’s Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Barbara Butler, 4611 Hwy 246N, Hodges, and will receive friends at the church Friday from 10-11 AM prior to the service.
