Born in Lindale, GA., he was the son of the late Morgan “Buck” and Grace McCarson Balkcom. He was a member of Honea Path First Baptist Church where he taught the Dwight McNinch Sunday School Class for many years. He was retired as Plant Engineer from Chiquola Mfg. Co. and a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Belton-Honea Path Water Authority and was Past President of the Honea Path Lions Club.

Surviving are: two sons, Robert H. Balkcom, Jr. and wife Cathy of Lawrenceville, Ga.
and John R. Balkcom and wife Leeann of Land O’ Lakes FL. and four grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a brother, Bill Balkcom and a sister, Betty Floyd.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Moody officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
