Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Ford “Mack” and Lillie Belle Howard Thornton, Sr. He was of the Methodist faith and was a proud veteran of the US Army, having served in the Korean Conflict. Thomas was a retired truck driver from Overnite/UPS.
Surviving are: his son, Thomas Ford “Bubba” Thornton and his daughter, Lilli Ann (Richard) Hall, all of Mauldin, a brother, Bill (Ruth) Thornton of AZ, two grandchildren, Jamie Malone Dill and Victoria Anne Marwede and three great-grandchildren, Connor Mac Dill, Carter Thomas Marwede and Sullivan Edward Marwede.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Joe Thornton and Ford “Mack” Thornton, Jr., and two sisters, Mary Frances McWhorter and Raynelle Brown.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1 P.M. Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. Greg Nix officiating.
The family is at their respective homes and will receive friends immediately following the services at the graveside.
