Born in Ware Shoals, she was a daughter of the late Edgar and Irene Madden Fortner. She was a member of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Surviving in addition to her loving husband of 70 years of the home are: a son, Faron (Linda) Cothran of Ware Shoals, her daughter-in-law, Ruby Cothran of Waterloo, her brother, William T. (Edna) Fortner of Greenville, a sister, Sybil (David) Hamby of Belton, a grandchild, Brandon Cothran, and two step-grandchildren, Tonya Knight and Shane Henderson. She was predeceased by a son, Leonard J. Cothran, Jr., and two sisters, Betty Fortner and Merlin Sims.
Funeral services will be held at 4:30 P.M. Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Parker-White Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop and Rev. Byron Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is at the home of her son, 2961 Poplar Springs Rd, Ware Shoals, and will receive friends from 3:30 – 4:30 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home prior to the service.
