Born in Mansfield, OH, he was a son of the late Robert Floyd and Wilma Fae Deel Hertel. He was veteran of the U.S. Army, Vietnam War and was owner and operator of Japanese Auto Clinic of Greenwood. He was a master technician since 1974 and was a member of IATN and ASA of SC where he received an Automotive Management Degree. He was a former board member of Piedmont Tech.
Surviving are his wife of the home, a daughter, Jennifer Bailey (Robert) of Missouri, two step-sons, Doug King of Greenwood and Chris King (Julie) of Hodges, a brother Thomas Hertel of California, three sisters, Peggy Hertell, Susan Tuey (Dennis), and Carol Wise (Carl) all of Tucson, AZ, and seven grandchildren.
