Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Fred and Dempsey Ashley Young. He was a member of Honea Path First Assembly of God. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving are his sister-in-law, Betty Boggs of Ware Shoals, several other in-laws and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Andrew Overby and Rev. Mac Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.
