Frances Southern

Princeton – Frances Davis Southern, 88, widow of Allen Drake Southern, of 11704 Augusta Rd, died Thursday, September 1, 2016 at her home.

Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of the late Henry and Katie Whitt Davis. She was a member of Columbia Baptist Church and a homemaker. Frances was the retired co-owner/operator of Southern’s Ornamental Concrete and Pottery. She loved mowing grass on her John Deere mower.

Surviving are: three daughters, Ann Banks of the home, Elaine (Earl) Banks and Jane (Butler) Bedwell, all of Princeton, five grandchildren, Crystal Banks, Leigh Ann (Adam) Dorsey, Jason (Emily) Banks, Lathan (Stephanie) Bedwell, and Hannah (Josh) Bedwell-Fields, four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Alex, and Caroline Dorsey and Cadence Banks, and special friend, Connie Medlock Whitten.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by six brothers, Pelham, Broadus, Wilton, Milton, Houston, and Ray Davis, three sisters, Nellie Watt, Evelyn Simpson, and Dorothy Gambrell, and a son-in-law, Jimmie Banks.

Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Columbia Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Howard and Mrs. Wanda Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home and will receive friends from 1-2 P.M. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
