Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late William Clemson and Rosa Lee McCoy McGee. He was retired from the Maintenance Department of Stoney Point.
Surviving are his wife of the home, three sons, Matthew Stephen McGee of the home, Herman C. McGee, Jr. (Julie) of Ware Shoals, and John William (Billy) McGee of Belton, two step-sons, Bill Alewine (Shelia) of Hickory Tavern, and Bruce Alewine (Anette) of Donalds, a step-daughter, Patsy Alewine of Oxford, NC, two brothers, Hubert McGee(Linda) and Jesse McGee(Mary), both of Craytonville, three sisters, Judy Hanks of Craytonville, Dorothy Ann Whitt of Anderson, and Sharon Phillips (Dennis) of Belton, nine grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a brother Charles McGee and two step-sons, Roger Dale Alewine and Paul Alewine.
Graveside Services will be held at 2 PM Monday at Ware Shoals Cemetery.
