Frances Shirley

Honea Path - Frances Ruth Wilson Shirley, age 90, wife of the late Jasper Nathan Shirley, passed away at her residence on June 8, 2016.

Born in Belton on March 14, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Allen R. and Ruth Wright Wilson.

Frances was an active member of Barkers Creek Baptist Church until Alzheimer’s began to affect her life in 2005. Frances was a graduate of Honea Path High School in 1944 and retired in 1995 after 40 years with the Commercial Bank. She was the lead teller at the drive-in bank on West Greer Street for 31 years and 10 months.

Frances is survived by three children: Larry Shirley and wife Cathy of Honea Path, Alice Shirley Shook and husband David of Mt. Pleasant and Nellie Shirley of Honea Path. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Seth Shirley and wife Melody of Seneca, Matt Shirley of Fayetteville, Georgia, Rachel Shirley Boggs and husband Ryan of Honea Path and Trenton Shook and wife Caroline of Sumter. Also surviving are six great-grandchildren: Asher and Emelia Shirley, Adalyn and Silas Boggs, Sutton and Thomas Shook.

Frances was predeceased by her brother Jerry Wilson and his wife Debbie, and her sister JoAnn Smith and her husband Daniel.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Barkers Creek Baptist Church with Pastor Wesley Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories.

The family is at the home and will receive friends 2-3 P.M. prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Barkers Creek Baptist Church, 3207 Hwy 252, Honea Path, SC 29654 or Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org.
