He was a son of the late Charles Spencer, Jr. and Mary Evelyn Lindsey Bowyer. He was a member of the Ware Shoals First Presbyterian Church and the Centre Lodge #37 A.F.M. He was retired from the Honea Path Police Department.
Surviving are his wife, a son, Chris Bowyer of Ware Shoals, a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Coker of Anderson, two step-sons, David Lee Cummings of Greer and Brian Cummings of Honea Path, two step-daughters, Ashley Lollis of Honea Path and Brandy Cummings of Gray Court, a brother, James T. Bowyer of Harker Heights, TX., a sister, Rebecca Ann Bowyer of El Paso, TX., and thirteen grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a sister Jane Bowyer.
Memorial services will be held at 4 PM Saturday, March 26, 2016 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Cooper and Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating.
