Born in Kershaw County, he was a son of the late James Gilliam and Martha Elizabeth Byrd Holley. He was a member of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a military police in World War II. He worked at Riegel Textile Co. for many years and retired as an electrician from Monsanto.
Surviving are two daughters, Pam Knight of Ware Shoals and Wanda Butler (Robert) of Greenwood, a sister Ann Hodges of Greenwood, two grandchildren, Megan Booth of Honea Path and Erin Oberdier (Anthony) of Waterloo, a step-grandson, Brian Butler of Columbia, and two special great-grandchildren, Brett and Aubrey, who were the apples of his eye.
He was pre-deceased by two brothers, Marvin and Tom Holley and three sisters, Bernice Catoe, Nell Pilgrim, and Sadie Bell.
Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. on Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family is at the home of a daughter, Pam Knight, 8 Forest Lane. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Parker-White Funeral Home.
