Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of Robert Earl and Margaret Bolt Banks. He was a member of Columbia Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the SCNG and retired from Solutia. Jimmie’s passion was racing and he enjoyed building racing engines.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife of the home and parents of Hickory Tavern are: his son, Jason Banks of the home, his daughter, Leigh Ann (Adam) Dorsey of Honea Path, two brothers, Mike (Janice) Banks of Hickory Tavern and Earl (Elaine) Banks of Honea Path, a sister, Jenny Goedhart of Hickory Tavern, and four grandchildren, Cadence “Cade” Banks, Joshua, Alex, and Caroline Dorsey. He was predeceased by a sister, Norma Wells.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Columbia Baptist Church with Rev. Scotty Hendricks officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

The family is at the home, 11704 Augusta Rd, Honea Path, and will receive friends from 12:30 – 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.
