Born in Greenwood, he was a son of T. A. and Maggie Brown Herring. He was of the Christian Faith. He was a member of the Independent Lodge #23 A.F.M. and was a loving family man who was well loved by his wife and children.
Surviving are three sons: Dwight Herman Herring, Jr. and wife Gwen of Ninety Six, Junior Fields and companion Joyce of Honea Path, and Larry Fields and wife Teresa of Honea Path; one daughter: Teresa Fields Gilmer and husband Mike, who were his caregivers; a sister: Hazel Freeland of McCormick; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by a daughter: Deborah Fields McCuen; a brother: Marion S. Herring; and a sister: Swanie Massey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rickey Knight and Rev. Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Eastview Cemetery.
The family is at the home, 206 Heyward Ave. and will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
