Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Marcell “Buck” and Ruth Whitfield Shaw. He attended the Honea Path Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was one of the first volunteers for the Honea Path Rescue Squad, a troop leader for the cub scouts and was retired from McCoy Lumber Co.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: two sons, Michael Ray Shaw and wife Celeste of Anderson and David Haynie Ashley of the home; one daughter, Kimberly Dawn Kelly and husband Scott of Belton; one brother, Tommy Marcell Shaw of Honea Path and three grandchildren, Colt Randall Jennings, Jacob Michael and Jodi Marisa Shaw. He was predeceased by one brother, Ronnie Eugene Shaw.
A graveside service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday at Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Shane Elrod officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday at Pruitt Funeral Home.
