Born in LaurensCounty, he was the son of Diane Childress Worthington and the late Ronald Worthington. He was formerly employed with SCDC in McCormick.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home and mother of Donalds are: one son, Thad Worthington of the home, six daughters, Nicole of Anderson, Aimee of Spartanburg, Candi of Winston Salem, NC, Rebecca of Baltimore, MD, Linsey of Augusta and Grace, three brothers, John McClellion of Williamston, Ryan Jones of Kingsport,TN, and Shane McCall of Baltimore, MD, three sisters, Chrissy Ross of Little Orleans, MD, Amy Still of Boston, MS, and Holly McClellion of Williamston, and three grandchildren.
