David Eanes

Ware Shoals - David Lee Eanes, Sr. went to be with Jesus on Wednesday, September 16, 2015. He was the husband of Helen Latham Eanes.

He was the son of George and Eunice O’Shields Eanes. He was the Dad of David Eanes, Jr., Debbie Vaughn (Robbie) and Pam Eanes (Dawn). He was the brother of Grady Eanes and Gail Dunaway, who both pre-deceased him. He was the step-father of Connie Jester(Charles),Bee Corley(Sandra), and Lorie Reeder(Billy Ray). He was predeceased by two step-sons, David Corley and Elliott Corley (Diane). He was the grandfather of April Rasar, Robert Vaughn, Josh Eanes, Chris Eanes, Stephanie Vaughn, and Samantha Eanes. He had 4 great-grandchildren, 15step-grandchildren, 33 step-great-grandchildren, and 23 step-great-great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by a step-granddaughter, Rhonda Rhodes.

He graduated from Hickory Tavern High School in 1958. David was retired from Monsanto. He had been in the Navy in the early 60’s, stationed in Key West, Florida. He was an avid musician, playing guitar, trumpet, saxophone, and more. David and his wife, Helen, hosted Gospel singings on Saturday nights for many years at the Eanes Gospel Building on Highway 252 in Laurens. David and his wife were active in a prison music ministry at Leath Correctional in Greenwood. David loved to ride motorcycles and enjoyed traveling, going on cruises and trips including Mexico and many more. He lived on Ekom Beach Road in Laurens County most of his life, leaving only a short time while in the Navy and living in Ninety-Six and Greenwood for a few years before going back to Ekom Beach Road. He moved to Ashley House Assisted Living in Greenwood toward the end of his life, but he always wanted to go back home. Now he has made it to his heavenly home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mitchell Wray officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn East, Laurens.

The family is at the home of a daughter, Debbie (Robbie) Vaughn, 423 Freely Road and will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at Parker-White Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.ParkerWhitePruitt.com
