Born in AndersonCounty, he was a son of the late William Alexander and Minnie Elizabeth Caldwell McMahan. Most important in his life was his Church and his family. He was a member of Ware Shoals First Presbyterian Church for more than 70 years, where he served as an Elder and Deacon numerous times. He was Sunday School Superintendent for 30+ years and a member of The Men’s Sunday School Class. He was retired from Riegel Textile Corp. after 48 years of service and a member of the Quarter Century Club.
Surviving are: two sons, Michael E. McMahan of the home and Marion W. (Shirley) McMahan of Greenwood, his daughter, Kay (Keith) McCoy of Fort Mill, two sisters, Betty (Ken) Moser of Greenville and Dot Whitfield of Honea Path, four grandchildren, Karen and Julie McMahan (Jason Gallop) and Cortney and Joshua McCoy and five great-grandchildren, Kayla (John) Beale, Kayci and Anna Chrisley, Eagan McCoy and Liam Gallop. He was predeceased by six brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Ware Shoals First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wayne Wicker officiating. Burial will follow in GreenwoodMemorialGardens.
The family is at the home and will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Parker-White Funeral Home.
