Mrs. Dalziel put her skills and dedication to work as a church secretary at three churches, the last being the LutheranChurch of the Ascension in Savannah, Georgia. As all of her friends know, Ida Lou was short of stature, but great of spirit. When the American hostages were released by Iran in 1981, Ida climbed into the bell tower of the LutheranChurch of the Ascension. She rang the bell 52 times – once for each hostage. Each pull of the rope lifted Ida off the floor. She will be greatly missed.
A graveside service was held for Ida Lou at PoplarSpringsBaptistChurch with Dr. Bobby Morrow officiating on August 29th. Memorials for Ida can be sent to WilmingtonIslandUnitedMethodistChurch, 195 Wilmington Island Road, Savannah, GA, 31410
