Born in AndersonCounty, he was the son of the late Joseph and Eula Mae McGaha Whitman. He was a Christian, and a longtime member of IPTAY. Tony was BHPHigh School Athlete of the Year in 1972 and an accomplished member of the 1972 BHPHigh School Wrestling Team. He was retired from Torrington.

Surviving are:  three daughters Tonya Phillips and husband Josh of WA, Allison Sullivan and husband Arizio of Honea Path and Erica Osborne and husband Josh of Anderson; one brother, Michael Whitman and wife Debra of Anderson; and seven grandchildren, Bri Jackson, Arison Sullivan, Caiden Sullivan, Stone Phillips, Ema Osborne and Reese Osborne, and Whitman Phillips and his special MawMaw, Betty Malone.

He was predeceased by two grandsons, Conner and Carson Osborne.

Memorial Services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Josh Phillips and Pastor Robbie Burton officiating.

The family is at the home of a daughter, Allison Sullivan, 455 Otto Lollis Rd, Honea Path, and will receive friends Thursday from 5-6 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
