Born in AndersonCounty, he was a son of the late John Coleman and the late Grace Smith Coleman Barnell. He was a member of ChiquolaBaptistChurch where he served as a Deacon, and retired from B&L Mechanical. Ronald was a member/officer of Centre Lodge #37 A.F.M. He was Co-Captain of the first BHP football team in 1967-68. Bear still holds the unbroken record for the longest punt return (80 yards) in BHP football history.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are: three sons, Robbie Coleman of Honea Path, Josh (Tasha) Coleman of Pelzer and Kyle (Amy) Coleman of Honea Path, his brother, Dwayne Coleman of FL, three sisters, Delores (Tommy) Richey of Honea Path, Susanne (Neal) Shirley and Donna (Mark) Harmon, all of Anderson, five grandchildren, Blake, Parker, Emma, Jackson, and Hannah, and one great-grandchild Tynlee.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at ChiquolaBaptistChurch with Rev. Ronnie Powell, Rev. Brad Haynes and Rev. Billy Slatten officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in EastviewCemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roger Lollis, Wade McCollough, Kenny Rowland, Kenny Latimer, Mike Cowan, and Emmett Free.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the 1966 BHP football team and the Men’s #3 Sunday School Class.
The family is at the home and will receive friends Thursday 6-8 p.m. at ChiquolaBaptistChurch.
