Born in Honea Path, he was a son of the late Julian Preston and Drudie Ervin Cox. He was twice married, first to the late Dorothy Duckett Cox, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Laurens. He was retired superintendent of Weaving at Chiquola Manufacturing Company of Honea Path.
Surviving are his wife of the home, a son, Donnie Cox (Mary Lynn) of Reeves, Tn., a daughter, Patricia Brock (Bobby) of Clinton, a brother, Berry Cox (Margaret) of Anderson, four grandchildren, Allison Dry (Roland) of Moore, Kristy Hill (James) of Laurens, David Cox, and Elizabeth Cox, both of Nashville, Tn., seven great-grandchildren, Josh Dry (Kristin), Lauren Dry, Emily Hill, Gibson Hill, Audrey Cox, Hallie Cox, and Ruby Cox.
Memorial services will be held at 2 P.M. Monday, March 23, 2015 at Martha Franks Chapel in Laurens, with Rev. Dr. Rowland Dry, Jr., Rev. David English, and Rev. Tommy Cox officiating.
The family will be at their respective homes and will receive friends at Martha Franks Chapel in Laurens following the memorial service.
