Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late James Vester and Carrie Elizabeth Shirley McClain. He was a member of Crossroads Fellowship and had worked at Woodside Mills.

Surviving are : four brothers, James William, Rickey Ray, Carl Randy and James Larry McClain; six sisters, Dorothy Ann Wyndham, Shirley Etrulia Roberts, Irene (Carl) Thompson, Mary (Tim) Farmer, Margaret Daniel, and Barbara (Anthony) Chandler. He was predeceased by two brothers, Tommy and Charles McClain.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Cooper officiating. Burial will follow at Keowee Baptist Cemetery.

The family is at the home of a sister, Barbara Chandler, 42 Holiday Dam Rd, and will receive friends 1-2 PM Saturday prior to service.
