Born in Asheville, N.C., he was a son of the late Charles Branch and Martha Duncan Burton. He was a member and deacon of Mt. Olive Baptist Church and was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was retired from Westinghouse.

Surviving are his wife of the home, a son, Charles Michael (Marissa) Burton of Highlands, NC, three daughters, Michelle Aiken (Keith) of Marion, NC, Melissa Burton (Gary) of Leicester, NC, and Maria Hawkins (Jeff) of Franklin, NC, three sisters, Patricia Rhoads of Ashville, Wanda Weatherman of Candler, NC, and Mary Sue Joyner of Candler, NC, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Parker-White Funeral Home Chapel with Chris Sullivan and Rev. Greg Hellams officiating.
