Honea Path – James Edward Winkler, 87, widow of Annie Louise Reid Winkler, formerly of Lee Street died, Monday, December 8, 2014, at, McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
Born in Grovetown, Ga., he was a son of the late Ervin P. and Lillie Cartee Winkler. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, World War II. Mr. Winkler joined the South Carolina Highway Patrol in 1958 and retired in 1989 after 31 years of service. He was an avid hunter and loved to raise and train beagles. He was a member of the S.C. Troopers Association, the VFW, and the Woodman of the World.
Surviving are his son, Ed Winkler and wife Hope of Greenville.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2014 at 3 PM at Pruitt Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Patterson officiating. Private entombment will follow.
The family is at their home and will receive friends from 1:30 to 3 PM on Thursday at Pruitt Funeral Home prior to the service.
