Ware Shoals – Fred Phillips, 93, widower of Mattie Crawford Phillips, of 30 W. Main St, entered his heavenly home Wednesday, October 29, 2014.
Born in Anderson County, he was a son of the late Edgar and Cynthia Gambrell Phillips. He was a US Army veteran of WWII and attended Ware Shoals First Baptist Church. He retired from Riegel Textile Corporation and volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels.
Surviving are: a son, William F. “Cooter” (Kathy) Phillips of Fountain Inn, two brothers, Thad Phillips of Anderson and Olin Phillips of Honea Path, a granddaughter, Kim (Tony) Langley of Greenwood, three great-grandchildren, Will, Alex, and Sam Langley; and Susan Phillips of Hodges.
He was predeceased by four brothers, Allen, Lamar, Roy and Bud Phillips, and two sisters, May Beeks and Corine Dalton.
Funeral Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Ware Shoals First Baptist Church with Rev. Curtis Eidson and Rev. Dale Phillips officiating. Burial with Millitary Honors will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Phillips, Derrell Hughes, Harold Kay, Wesley Phillips, Josh and Jeremy Eidson.
