Ware Shoals – Mary Ruth Wells Mahaffey, 91, widow of Mills Hunter Mahaffey, formerly of Ware Shoals, died Friday, September 5, 2014 at NHC of Greenwood.
Born in Laurens County, she was daughter of the late Walter Lee and Augusta Viola Little Wells. She was a member of West Main St. Church of God. She was a proud Graduate of Ware Shoals High School and a former receptionist for Parker-White Funeral Home. She was retired from Greenville Distribution Center. Ruth loved baking for her family and was known for her pound cakes.
Surviving are: a step-son, Curtis Mahaffey of West Pelzer, a special niece and caregiver, Bennie Henderson, a special great-niece, Amanda Levins, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. She was twice married, first to the late D.P. Jordan.
She was predeceased by six brothers, Roy, Erskine, Elmer, Henry, Lewis and W.C. Wells, and four sisters, Sally Cothran, AnnaBell Kirby, Mennie Mae Simpson, and Joyce Mars.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at Parker-White Funeral Home with Rev. Mac Jones and Rev. Linda Roach officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Dalton Mars, Jay, Saul, and Seth Blackwell, Eddie Roach and Mitch Levins.
The family is at the home of her niece, 119 Flamingo Point, Cross Hill, SC and will receive friends 2 – 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home prior to the services.
